The contemporary Wushu event Nanquan is a modern style created in 1960 derived from martial arts derived in the Chinese provinces south of the Yangtze River and predominantly those styes popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang.
Contemporary Nanquan features vigorous, athletic movements with very stable, low stances, extensive hand techniques and a vocal articulation called fasheng("release shout") which is the predecessor of the Japanese and Korean martial arts kiai.
Nanquan is also another form of Chinese boxing with a rather long history and a lot of schools and one of the more dynamic styles of Wushu.

The men's and women's Nanquan were won by competitors from China (CHEN, SHUAI and HUANG, CHUNNI respectively).
Once again, for some frustrating reason, the Changquan had competitions in all three related events but the Nanquan was by itself (no Nandao and Nangun).
I can't guarantee that the video is any good, but the fact that they even sell Nanquan videos is enough to warrant a mention.

Difficulty Points - (Advanced Changquan and Nanquan ONLY) - To promote and improve international wushu competitor standards, difficulty movements (nandu) will be allowed for advanced changquan and nanquan divisions for men and women.
A maximum of 0.6 extra points can be earned through performing nanquan or changquan specified movements from the 2004 IWuF Competition Rules (click here for difficulty move specifications).A separate judge will decide whether or not a difficult move was correctly performed.
All difficult moves and the section of the form that they are in must be announced before the competition via the difficulty movement registration form submitted with the standard tournament registration form.

I've always felt that it was a disservice to the wide diversity of southern styles to claim to distill it down to nanquan.
On the flip side, I don't think that any of the southern styles are in the least bit worried about nanquan overshadowing their traditional forms.
Wing Chun is potentially bigger than all of modern wushu combined, at least outside of China.

It used to be that the yelling in Nanquan seemed related to harnessing power, but now it seems like bad theater (=NASKA).
