P.E. Church Net - Nansindlela School
Nansindlela School was founded in 1993 out of the vision of 3 women: a missionary, a doctors wife and a high school teacher who, having recently arrived in the area soon discovered that the majority of her learners struggled to understand English.
Parents welcomed the use of English as the medium of instruction as they feel that their children are disadvantaged in the matric (school-leaving) exams by having to cope with an English question paper and also because of the obvious benefits of fluency in a global language.
Testimony to the standard of education provided at the school is the significant number of learners whose parents are principals of other local schools as well as the academic success achieved by past Nansindlela learners in urban schools.

EduPlant is the national schools permaculture programme, which for the last eight years has literally reached thousands of schools, many of which are now growing trees and food, recycling waste and using natural resources, such as water, with care.
Nansindlela, a school from rural KwaZulu-Natal, that has been an EduPlant finalist several times since 1997, told the gathering that, through their involvement with the programme, their school had attracted sponsorship of over R1 million, which in turn had raised 40 million for their area of Ingwavuma, an area hard hit by AIDS.
Other schools spoke of money they are raising through selling the produce of their gardens which is being used to implement water tanks, construct classrooms and to employ parents.
