Bogra is a northern district of Bangladesh, in the Rajshahi Division.
November 10: A media report indicated that JMJB cadres have imposed extortion amounts on the villagers of areas such as Naldanga in the Natore district, Raninagar in the Naogaon district and Bagmara in the Rajshahi district in the north-western region of the country.

In Naogaon, 50 animals were tested for evidence of Nipah-like virus infection: 10 birds, 4 pigs, 4 dogs, 2 shrews, 5 rodents, and 25 bats, including 19 P giganteus.
Among patients with probable or confirmed cases, patients in Naogaon tended to be younger (median age 12 years vs. 38 years of age) and to have a shorter interval from symptom onset to death (4 days vs. 6 days), compared to patients in the outbreak in Meherpur.

August 30: Abdul Khalek, a close aide of Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, chief of the JMJB and brother of JMJB’s second-in-command for the Baghmara sub-district, Abdus Sattar, was arrested at Biprokaya village in the Rajshahi district.

NAOGAON, Oct 29: Election fever has gripped the district as all political parties and candidates willing to contest the coming parliamentary election are busy with mass-contact and lobbying.
The workshop was organised by the district local NGO network led by Mother Development Society (MDS) with the assistance of Action Against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children (ATSEC) Bangladesh.
The entire district is expected to be brought under 100 per cent sanitation coverage by 2008, the sources said.

 BANGLAPEDIA: White Clay
There are surface to near surface deposits of white clay in Bijoypur and Gopalpur area of Netrokona district, Nalitabari of Sherpur district, Haidgaon of Chittagong district and Baitul Izzat of Satkania thana, Chittagong district.
The subsurface deposit of white clay was first discovered at Patnitala of Naogaon district in 1965 at the depths ranging from 340m to 350m while drilling for economic minerals in the area by GSP.
The white clay at Barapukuria of Dinajpur district was discovered by the GSB in 1985 while drilling for coal in the area.

Naogaon zila was one of the sub-divisions of former Rajshahi district of Bangladesh.

In the coastal district of Patuakhali, local Red Crescent Society sources said, 18 fishermen remained missing since Monday night as five trawlers –FB Shamim, FB Nasir, FB Nabo Bodhu, FB Miazan and FB Zidan – sank in the Andar Manik and Ramnabad rivers in Kalapara upazila after being caught by nor’wester.
District officials said a large number of thatched shops in Balipara Bazar of Sadar upazila were blown away by the storm.

The Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi youth at about 8:00pm yesterday on Agradigun border under Dhamuirhat upazila in Naogaon district.
BSF members fired at the Bangladeshi youth Babu Mia (35) as he tried to intrude into Indian territory cutting a barbed wire fence.
A flag meeting between BDR and BSF was held in this regard and BSF agreed to hand over the body of Babu to Bangladesh authorities after autopsy.

Again in June 1992, two young men were shot dead and five were injured by BDR in Mohasthan Ghar, Bogra district, when villagers resisted the BDR's attempt to seize their cattle.
In July a 16-year old boy was killed and some 150 injured in a similar incident in Ramchandrapur Hat, Chapai Nawabganj district, when the BDR shot at villagers protested against the BDR removing their cattle.
