Nye's third collection of poetry, Yellow Glove, reflects a new, more mature perspective, influenced by the continuing unrest in the Middle East and the amounts of tragedy and sorrow found there.
In 1997, Nye published her first young adult novel, entitled Habibi, which is the autobiographical story of an Arab-American teenager who moves to Jerusalem during the 1970s.

There is a poem about how a woman on an airplane asked Nye to hold her baby, and returned an hour later having showered and changed her clothes in the airplane lavatory.
What impresses me is that Nye caught the underlying importance of these childish phrasings and hung on to them until they could be reinvented in the poem.
Nye is one of those writers who makes me want to read, and makes me want to live, and makes me want to write.

With clear images and striking metaphors, Fuel confirms Nye’s belief in the value of the overlooked, the half-forgotten, “the little sucked-in breath of air / hiding everywhere.” Like the late William Stafford, to whom Nye dedicates the second poem in this volume, “Bill’s Beans,” she cannot help loving small hidden wonders of the natural world.
