The headwaters area consists of a large marsh which extends from Camden Lake in the west to Pond Lily Lake in the east, and is drained by the Napanee River and it’s tributary, Hardwood Creek.
The most plausible explanation for the extensive marsh land is that the shallow waters of the former lake have gradually been colonized by marsh plants, and that the whole area in the process of turning in to a peat bog.
