		Napier is placed as the number six modern university in the UK and third in Scotland.
		In addition, Napier’s courses in the areas of general engineering, nursing and paramedical studies, and sports science are ranked amongst the top 20 in the UK — coming 13th, 9th and 13th respectively in their subject tables.
		Napier is ranked 54th out of 118 universities in the main league table.

	John Napier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		John Napier or Neper, nicknamed Marvellous Merchiston (1550–April 4, 1617) was a Scottish mathematician, physicist, astronomer/astrologer and eighth Laird of Merchiston.
		Napier is relatively little-known outside mathematical and engineering circles, where he made what is undoubtedly a key advance in the use of mathematics.
		Napier used some of his mathematical talents for theology, as he used the Book of Revelation to predict the Apocalypse.

		Napier is best known for his invention of logarithms and for formulas used in solving spherical triangles.
		Napier was born in the Tower of Merchiston, now at the center of Napier University’s Merchiston campus, in 1550.
