Brahmanbaria is bounded by Kishoreganj District and Habiganj District on the north, Comilla District on the south, Habiganj District and Tripura State, India on the east and Meghna River, Kishoreganj District, Narsingdi District and Narayanganj District on the west.
The geography of the district is characterized by low-lying land with small hills and hillocks of red soil.
The main rivers of the district are the Meghna River, and the Titas River.

NARSINGDI, Oct 4:—Acute scarcity of pure drinking water is prevailing in rural areas in six up­azilas of the district.
The Executive Engineer of LGED Narsingdi Mir Elias Morshed disclosed in the District Coordination meeting held at DC's Conference Room that a sum of Taka 31.81 crore was allocated to implement 296 schemes in the district in the current fiscal year.
The district town including six up­azilas of Raipura, Shibpur, Monohordi, Palash, Belabo and Sadar are always crowded with a large number of old model and unfit vehicles which emit fl smokes regularly polluting the en­vironment.

Dec 2: After achieving self-sufficient in food grains, Narsingdi district is heading towards producing fine aromatic rice.
In the present Aman season, farmers of the district cultivated fine aromatic rice including Basmati, Chinegura, Kalijira, Kataribogh, Tolashimala, Nazirshail and BRRI varieties on about 5,500 hectares of land with a target of producing 16,500 metric tons of paddy.
In the last Aman season farmers in the district cultivated 3,000 hectares of fine aromatic rice for the first time in the district with the help of local Agriculture Extension Department (AED).

According to a source in the District Fish Directorate there are 17 rivers, 27 canals, 45 heels, 3,500 ponds, one government hatchery, 18 non-government hatcheries and eight non-government fish nurseries in the district.
About 1,000 tonnes of fish are needed for 18 lakh people in the district while about 1,520 tonnes of fish are being produced in the ponds, 2,500 tonnes being produced in the rivers and canals, it is estimated.
According to the sources in the district Agriculture Extension Department ginger was cultivated on 580 acres of land in the entire district in the year 2003, on 635 acres of land in 2004 and on 715 acres of land in the district this year.

NARSINGDI, Bangladesd - At least 500 people have fallen ill after inhaling ammonia leaking from a fertiliser factory in Bangladesh's Narsingdi district, police and officials said yesterday.
They said the gas, which had been leaking from Ghorashal Fertilizer Complex (GFC) at Palash since late March, also killed nearly 1,500 fowls and 20 head of cattle, along with fish in nearby ponds and crops in the fields.
A government official at Palash, 100 km (60 miles) northeast of the capital Dhaka, said many villagers had fled.
