The National Museum of Naval Aviation, the Pensacola Naval Air Station Historic District, and historic Fort Barrancas are all located at NAS Pensacola.
The growth of NAS Pensacola from 10 tents to the world's greatest naval aviation center was emphasized by then-Senator Owen Brewster's statement: "The growth of naval aviation during World War II is one of the wonders of the modern world."
In 1971, NAS was picked as the headquarters site for CNET, a new command which combined direction and control of all Navy education and training.

Naval Air Station Brunswick is the last, active-duty Department of Defense airfield remaining in the northeast, and is home to five active duty and two reserve squadrons.

The Navy’s first presence at Pensacola was in the form of the Pensacola Navy Yard, established in 1826 and closed in 1911 after a devastating hurricane in 1906 followed by a severe Yellow Fever epidemic two years later.
Today, NAS Pensacola hosts the headquarters of the Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET), a Vice Admiral responsible for all education and training throughout the Navy.
NAS Pensacola also is the site of the National Museum of Naval Aviation, one of the finest air museums in the world.

Virtually all the Squadrons based at NAS Oceana are now either Legacy Hornet or Super Hornet equipped.
After the National Anthem, four F-14 Tomcats were launched, three from VF-32 Squadron and the other from VF-101 Squadron, specially painted with light gray and a red tail.
Leading the formation was a four ship of F-14 Tomcats with the F/A-18C Hornet pair on the left side and the F/A-18F Super Hornet pair on the right side of the formation.

The Marines, who were deployed for six months, formed an advanced party from two Miramar squadrons, Marine Aviation Logistic Squadrons 11 and 16, Marine Aircraft Group 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward).
With the departure of the last legacy model KC-130 tanker plane, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing will now be completely equipped with the new KC-130J model aircraft.
