The land, outside of the wooded district, is diversified, being composed in part of level prairie, and again of rolling surface, the whole, with the numberous handsome houses and painted barns thickly studding the county, presenting a picturesque and pleasing landscape to the eye of the observer.
Thomas A. Brooking came to Macomb township in the fall of 1834, where he spent the winter, and in the spring of 1835, built a double cabin on section 30, where the cemetery now is. He afterward removed to section 7, where he accumulated a large amount of land, some 600 acres in all.

In the spring of 1863, around the time the Coulthart family was deciding to move to Minnesota, the remaining Sioux were exiled from their homeland and placed on a reservation in what is now South Dakota.
William Coulthart and his family arrived in south central Minnesota in June of 1864, a period when raids were not uncommon in the area where they settled.

Nashville is currently defending itself in a lawsuit filed by the Nicolet Minerals Co. Nicolet Minerals sued the town after Nashville rescinded an illegal contract with the mining company that would have given the company permits to mine in the town.
The Town of Nashville's old town board (which has since been replaced by mining opponents) was found to have committed 55 violations of the state's open meeting law when it secretly negotiated a pact with the mining company that was signed in December, 1996.
Nashville residents have responded by saying that we have already taken the steps necessary to protect our interests and our investments by rescinding this unconscionable Local Agreement that is certainly not in our best interest.

After mustering out the final time, Erick Barsness briefly returned to Stoughton, Wisconsin, before traveling to Pope County, Minnesota, where in April, 1866, he homesteaded with his brothers Nels and Ole on section 14 of what was later named Barsness Township in their honor.
It is said that when they arrived there was only 1 other settler in the township, and that Erick lived on lard, flour, and molasses for his first 3 months there.
Erick is known to have attended several reunions of the 15th Wisconsin, including one in Chicago, Illinois, in 1900, and one in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 13, 1906, which was announced in the Glenwood Herald newspaper.
