Panel attorneys sign a participatory agreement with the County of Nassau and are compensated directly by the County on the basis of a voucher submitted at the conclusion of the representation.
It is asserted that in such instances, County Law § 722-d authorizes counsel to report the client's financial status to the court for the purposes of terminating the assignment or directing the client to pay all or a portion of the legal fee by his or her own resources.
