She played with the occasional wizarding cousin on her mother's side of the family (of Penrose lineage) who came for visits on rare holiday events.

The Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test (often abbreviated N.E.W.T. or NEWT) is a highly-advanced test of magical ability in a particular field in the fictional Harry Potter series.
The N.E.W.T. designation is presumably intended to mirror the real-world British A Level.

Obviously this will be an exam that will test everything that they have learned over their course of study, and also help place them in suitable career's basically.
I hope(for all of those who have any Potter PC CD's) that the 'tests' are more like challenges, being able to use magic in the real world, the physical ability to be able to create and use the spells appropriately.
Except that they will be Nastily Exhausting to pass of course.
