The Natal Midlands Dwarf Chameleon (Bradypodion thamnobates), also known under the longer common name of KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Dwarf Chameleon, is a chameleon native to the Midlands area of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Their head crests are yellow, with white skin on their throat.
The Natal Midlands Dwarf Chameleon is an endangered species.

 Rare Chameleon Saved in KZN
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has praised the efforts of all parties involved in the recent co-operative operation to save a colony of extremely rare Black-headed Dwarf Chameleon that was found on the site of a proposed business park on eThekweni Municipality ground in the Cato Manor area of Durban.
Finally, a piece of land was set aside as a 'chameleon reserve' and an operation to move the tiny creatures was mounted, monitored closely by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and supervised by two ecologists employed by CMDA, with valuable assistance from a wide range of dedicated volunteers.
'The fl-headed dwarf Chameleon and other small creatures may be small, almost insignificant parts of the ecological whole, but we, the human-beings who care for wild things and places, will have failed miserably as trustees of our environment were we not to do all we can to save them,' he added.

It is restricted to the Midlands between Mooi River, Bulwer, Howick and Dargle at an elevation of 3000 and 4200 ft. The preferred habitat is in bushes and scrubs, along roads, fences and gardens.
Maximum temperature is around 86¡F in January with a night drop to 59ºF. In July the maximum temperature is around 68ºF with a night drop below the 50«s and sometimes below freezing point.

Our first encounter was of two in the Umzimkulu Valley near Oribi Gorge, with a further superb sighting of two in the Caprivi GR one of which was perched right next to the road, a magnificent adult perched near Namutoni and finally one on the drive from Springbok to Brandvlei.
Excellent numbers were seen in the KZN Midlands with peak numbers of 1100 in the Wakkerstroom area.
Good numbers were seen in the KZN Midlands including superb views of 250 in the Kokstad and Creighton areas and several more in the Karkloof area.

We used to get loads of Chameleons in my grans garden, we used to let them walk over our arms but she would make us put them back after half an hour in the same tree we found them.
Just curios, they made a lasting impression and respect for all creautures thanx to them cuase they were so gentle and fascinating to watch there coulors change in different bushes.
To correctly answer your question without a picture is difficult all I could do is guess, my guess would be C. africanus (African chameleon) or C.bitaeniatus (two- lined chameleon) both are in abundance in the southern parts of Africa.
