Natalya Nazarova, 24, the reigning World Indoor 400m champion achieved the incredible result of 49.68, which not surprisingly was a new Russian record, and a time that has only been surpassed twice in the history of the indoor event by Czech Jarmila Kratochvilova (49.59 in 1982 and 49.64 in 1981).
Natalya Antyukh was third with 50.87 and Tatyana Levina ran 51.25 for fourth.
Nazarova confirmed that she had had a great period of training this winter, building the base on which she will run the Olympic Games, however, she does not want to make any predictions about her Budapest’s result.
