Newton, who has been on a personal recognizance bond since August 7, 2002, was ordered to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on October 8, 2002.
A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment against Nathanial Newton, Jr., Billy Crenshaw, Bruce Freeman-Canady, and Charles Howard on January 8, 2002 charging each with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Billy Crenshaw, age 25, of Dallas, and Bruce Freeman-Canady, age 31, of Florida, have each pled guilty to the conspiracy charge in the indictment and are scheduled to be sentenced on October 2, 2002.

DALLAS -- Dallas Cowboys' lineman Nate Newton has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from a Grand Prairie woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her.
A Dallas County grand jury in September declined to indict Newton on the allegations.
The 31-year-old woman told police in August that she and Newton, 35, mutually broke off a yearlong relationship in May. She said he came to her trailer park uninvited the night of June 14 and sexually assaulted her for more than an hour.

Newton told reporters Friday that he regretted the incident, and characterized it as an autograph request that turned into a confrontation.
