Nathan Fillion (born March 27, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) is a Canadian actor.
After working in several theatre, television and film productions, including the improvised soap opera Die Nasty, Fillion moved to New York City in 1994 where he acted in the soap opera One Life to Live as Joey Buchanan, for which he was nominated in 1996 for a Daytime Emmy in the "Outstanding Younger Actor" category.
Fillion starred as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the Joss Whedon science fiction television series Firefly (2002), for which he won the "Cinescape Genre Face of the Future Award - Male" award by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, USA.

It's actually not that I think Nathan was trying to use his celebrity at the comic store so much as it was kind of an abuse of his considerable power on *that* website for a less than glorious cause.
I had no problem with Nathan's post, just as I loved reading William Shatner's claim in "Get a Life" that he was making a point to walk through dealer's rooms at conventions and pointing out, loudly, any autographed Shatner merchandise that he had never actually autographed.
Nathan likely has the money to pay those kind of prices, but he doesn't want to see the people supporting the work (ie you guys) to be blatently ripped and lied to.
