 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Nathan
He assures the monarch of the Lord's support and of the divinely ordained establishment of his kingdom for all time, but dissuades him from the idea of building the proposed temple, stating that this honour was reserved for his son and successor (II Kings, vii, 13; I Chron., xvii, 1-15).
Nathan appears later to reproach David in the name of the Lord for his crime of adultery and murder narrated in II Kings, Xi, and, after skilfully proposing the allegory of the poor man's little ewe lamb, surprises the king with the words: "Thou art the man".
He then declares the anger of the Lord and the punishments that are to fall upon David, although in view of the latter's repentance his sin is pronounced forgiven, for his crimes had given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme (II Kings, xii, 1-15).

 Bible Study - Nathan
Nathan, in Hebrew meaning God has given, was a prophet of God who served King David and his son and successor King Solomon.
He was also fearless; it was Nathan who rebuked David after the incident with Bathsheba, and it was Nathan who intervened during the attempted palace coup by Adonijah.
It was Nathan who The Lord sent to rebuke King David after his adultery with Bathsheba, and the arranged killing of her husband Uriah:

 Lord Byron's Matzos
Isaac Nathan was born in 1792 to the cantor of the synagogue at Canterbury, England.
Nathan slightly queers his own pitch by admitting in the letter that he had already applied to Sir Walter Scott, who had refused, but nonetheless, for what exact reason we do not know, Byron went along with Nathan's proposal and proceeded to pen twenty-odd lyrics which subsequently became amongst his most famous.
At their tearful parting, shortly before Nathan sent him the matzos, the poet pressed a £50 note on the young musician as a farewell gift, which would have been as welcome to the recipient as it was ill-affordable by the donor.

Nathan Brewer: Calling On The Name Of The Lord
The crux of Graham's teaching, and thus the heart of the problem, is his treatment of Romans 10:13 — calling on the name of the Lord.
After telling them in verse 21 that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, Peter instructs these Jews to call on the Lord's name by repenting and being baptized — not by praying for salvation.
Instead, he was told to call on the name of the Lord and have his sins washed away by baptism.
