Founded in 1964, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in the United States provides engineering leadership in service to the nation.
The NAE is a member of the United States National Academies, which includes the NAE, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and the National Research Council (NRC) — which serves as the principal operating arm of the academies.
The NAE operates under the same congressional act of incorporation that established the National Academy of Sciences, signed in 1863 by President Lincoln.

She is a newly elected member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the recipient of several awards in research and teaching, including the 2002 Indiana Professor of the Year and a National Science Foundation Director's Award for Distinguished Teaching Scholars.
The National Academy of Engineering has honored the Purdue EPICS program and its leaders with the 2005 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education.
Oakes is an associate professor of engineering education and co-director of EPICS; Jamieson is the Ransburg Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, associate dean of engineering for undergraduate education and co-founder and director of EPICS; and Coyle is director of the EPICS entrepreneurship initiative, professor of electrical and computer engineering and co-founder of EPICS.

 Annual Report
The Annual Convention of the Indian National Academy of Engineering was held on December 10-11, 2004 at Jacaranda Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi under the Presidentship of Dr. A Ramakrishna, President of the Academy and President (Operations) and Dy.
The Academy organized a Workshop on “Accreditation and Evaluation of Engineering Programmes” in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Board of Accreditation at Delhi on August 5, 2004.
The major scientific and engineering highlights of the Convention were technical presentations by fifteen eminent new Fellows of the Academy who were also admitted to the Fellowship in an Induction Ceremony during Annual General Meeting of Fellows.
