About the National Association of Rocketry
Standards for the safe manufacture and use of model rocket motors have been developed in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) * The NAR's Standards and Testing Committee tests model rocket and high power rocket motors for safety, reliability, and repeatable performance.
The NAR is recognized (by NFPA) as one of only two testing authorities who may approve rocket motors for sale in the USA.
Each of our sections has at least 5 NAR members, one of whom is a Senior member (21 years of age or older).
www.angelfire.com /mo2/kcar/aboutnar.html

 National Association of Rocketry
The NAR was slow to hop on the bigger higher faster bandwagon in high-powered rocketry (often abbreviated HPR), as much of its membership uses small black-powder fired motors instead of the higher impulse composite fuels typical in HPR's.
NAR rockets tend to be smaller than HPR-class rockets; the ever-popular Estes enterrage of rockets and motors are examples of typical NAR sanctioned rockets.
NAR contests are large, and have a huge competitor base stemming from all demographic groups and often include a lot of real masters.

 History of Tripoli Rocketry Association
The purpose was to address the formation of a national organization to perpetuate the safety, advancement, and future of non-professional rocketry, above that described by the National Association of Rocketry.
And 1987 saw the Tripoli Rocketry Association, Inc. given rights to the LDRS series of high power launches as their national launch and meeting event.
So while the name of our organization may have come about as much by chance as anything, the essential spirit of the Tripoli Rocketry Association of today has been consistent, and owes a debt of thanks to all those early advanced rocketeers who pooled their enthusiasm and skills to make the modern TRA happen.
