The National Ballet of Canada, founded in 1951, is a classical ballet repertory company that presents a very wide range of choreography, from the 19th-century classics and master works by later choreographers to newly commissioned ballets.

TORONTO- Though it hosted the acclaimed farewell season of Rex Harrington and the debut of a highly anticipated retelling of Cinderella, the National Ballet of Canada suffered financially in 2003-2004, announcing a deficit of $790,000 Wednesday.
Officials announced the shortfall, which brings the ballet's accumulated deficit to $692,000, at the company's annual meeting, held at the Walter Carsen Centre in Toronto.
At the meeting, ballet officials also honoured longtime company members, recognized those stepping down or retiring and welcomed newcomers to its board.
