 LG_ColFor.doc
The National Council was founded in 1911, and the College Forum became an official descriptor and structure of the college level groups, the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), the College Section (CS), the Conference on English Education (CEE), and the Two-Year College English Association (TYCA), in 1995.
NCTE is a 77,000 member pre-school through university association dedicated to the professional development of English language arts instruction at all levels of formal education.
NCTE met that challenge by hiring an executive director who is not a discipline specialist, but one who is very committed to the discipline, although his training and skills lie more in the area of association management than in the scholarship of the discipline.

Professional Resources: National Council of Teachers of English: 1998 Resolution [English Online]
National Council of Teachers of English: 1998 Resolution
In previous resolutions, the Council has opposed "over-simplified and narrowly conceived tests of isolated skills and decontextualized knowledge," contrasting the "tension between the breadth of the English language arts curriculum and the restrictive influence of standardized means of assessing student learning" (Resolution On Testing, 1995).
In many countries, states, and provinces, the results of those tests are being increasingly used to accredit schools, affirm the ongoing certification of teachers, reward schools and school districts monetarily, and determine individual student grade promotion and retention.

 Spelling. ERIC Digest.
Their studies have revealed that English orthography, while appearing quite irregular on the surface, is considerably more logical than it appears when examined at deeper, more complex levels of language.
Accordingly, we need to provide them with numerous and frequent opportunities to explore English spelling in the context of daily writing and reading activities.
Their work reveals that such factors as the relationships among letters within words, the ways prefixes and suffixes are appended to roots, and the ways words related in meaning remain related in spelling despite sound changes (for example, derive-derivative-derivation) are fundamental properties of the orthography.

Another weakness that I found was that I could not find certain things that I felt should have been a part of the site, like National Standards.
