Stephen was a student at the National Film and Television School in the late Seventies and early Eighties.
The producer of films including Richard III and Mrs Dalloway has only been in the seat since February - posters advertising his films still lie at the base of the walls on which they will eventually be hung - but he is already shattering a few myths about the place.
He now feels he is giving something back to the industry by taking the position at the school and by using his skills and contacts as a producer to raise the ever-needed funds to keep it going.
