In the one hundred years since Federation, Australia has produced twenty-five Prime Ministers of all shapes, shades and sizes.
With an earnest desire to address Australia's lack of interest in its political history, Martin Wilson has created 25 hooked wool rugs of our Prime Ministers.
Wilson believes that this portrait series has the potential to 'unite the country like no other rugs have before'.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, where her father was a scientific chemist, Bess Norriss studied at Melbourne Art Gallery School and at the Slade School of Fine Art in London in 1905, specialising in watercolours and miniatures.
Francis Derwent Wood (1871-1926) made a bronze bust of her in 1921-2, which was purchased by the Chantrey Bequest for the Tate (then the National Gallery, Millbank) in 1926.
Bess belonged to the Society of Women Artists and exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Paris Salon (1908-36), the Goupil Gallery and the Grosvenor Gallery, both in London.

 National Gallery 'risks losing prestige'. 07/01/2004. ABC News Online
The former director of the National Gallery of Australia, Betty Churcher, has warned the institution is in danger of losing its place as Australia's premier arts body.
"The National Gallery should be the national leader of the country and should be perceived by outsiders, other galleries outside, as the premier institution," she said.
The National Gallery of Victoria recently re-opened after a $170 million refurbishment.
