He obtained a Master's degree in Agricultural Botany from the Postgraduate College (Chapingo, Mexico City) in 1968 and in 1972 he received his Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Wales, Great Britain.
He was elected by the Board of Governors to be director of the Biology Institute of the UNAM for two consecutive periods, and he held this post from 1979 until 1987.
I have spent 7 years of my professional life in foreign countries throughout the world, doing foreign explorations for beneficial insects and biodiversity studies with numerous countries and their National Parks.

Currently he is Overseas Development Director for Germinal Holdings and Chairman of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany's Charitable Limited Company.
He is a former Chairman and President of the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, a former member of the General Advisory Committee to the BBC (1984-1990), and of the Broadcasting Council for Wales (1991-1995).
He is a Council member of the Tenant Farmers Association and national spokesman for Great Britain in European Dairy Farmers, Honorary Nuffield Scholar, Secretary to the Nuffield Dairy Study Group, Treasurer to the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and Treasurer of the 300 Cow Club.

After his retirement from the Plant Breeding Institute in 1946, Hunter served as President of the Council of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany for three years, 1951-1953.
During this period Hill was President of the Institute of Energy, Chairman of BNFL and Chairman of Amersham International plc.
There is documentation of Hodgkin's involvement with 16 British and international societies and organisations including Bristol University, the British Association for the Advancement of Science, the Institute of Physics, especially its X-ray Analysis Group established 1943, the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) and the Royal Society.

Several publications were exchanged with the Vavilov Institute and arrangements were made for them to send copies of their research reports and bulletins to the National Agricultural Library and libraries at Utah State University and the University of Wisconsin.
In 1921, N. Vavilov became the Head of the Bureau and in 1924, it was reorganized into the All-Union Bureau of Applied Botany and New Crops, and in 1930, the Institute was renamed the All-Union Institute of Plant Industry.

 Buckwheat
A feasibility study of on-farm conservation of buckwheat in China and Nepal was supported by IPGRI in 1996 and carried out by Chengdu Institute of Biology, China and Agricultural Botany Division, Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC).
A study on ecology and conservation of tartary buckwheat is in progress at the Chengdu Institute of Biology and Zhaojue Agricultural Research Institute in Liangshan Autonomous Region of China with IPGRI support.
It was compiled and published by IPGRI.Information on buckwheat genetic resources were gathered and analysed by IPGRI consultants in China, India and Nepal, compiled by IPGRI Office and have been distributed to national programmes in APO region and others.
