deseretnews.com Utah GOP a bit right of peers
However, on the mean scale, Utah Republicans are slightly more liberal than national Republicans on questions of spending on national defense vs. domestic programs; national health care; the death penalty; and prayer in public schools.
Using that criterion, Utah Republicans are "significantly" more conservative than their national colleagues on issues of gay rights, government-sponsored open space, abortion and doctor-assisted suicide, the poll shows.
Now a Deseret News/KSL national and statewide survey quantifies Garn's view and what some others may have intuitively believed: Utah Republicans are a bit to the right of national Republicans.

 The Case For a Republic - B
National Republicans demand a people's constitution that enshrines the Nation as a vanguard of European civilisation; that specifies the basic rights and responsibilities of citizens; that provides for land grants for the Aboriginal peoples, and the fundamental laws of the nation.
National Republicans demand a parliament with Public Forum participatory democracy, for Deputies from a wide range of democratic organisations, workers, farmers, families, the Public Service, the Military Forces, a system for the 21st century utilising modern communication technology to ensure Deputies and bureaucrats reflect the will of the citizenry.
National Republicans argue that this simplistic view offers little for the cause of a truly sovereign Australian Nation, for no nation can ever be forged from the Act of the British Parliament, which created the Federated Commonwealth in 1901.

Robert Moran on Republicans on National Review Online
Republicans may still be squeamish about border and immigration issues, but they shouldn't be squeamish about protecting the American driver's license — the only ID most Americans have.
Conservative Republicans should demand that state highway money be tied to states' rigorous adherence of (1) standard drivers' licenses being issued to citizens only, (2) special drivers' licenses being issued to those with green cards, and (3) no drivers' licenses being issued to illegal aliens.
Republicans and conservatives are living in a rare historical inflection point.

NEW YORK REPUBLICANS VS. NATIONAL REPUBLICANS (Gotham Gazette. April 19, 2004)
Given the fact that Democrats outnumber Republicans in the city and the state, and that the national image of the Democrats is pro-choice and Republicans pro-life, this would seem logical.
Incumbency is protecting local Republicans against the mismatch between themselves and their base; and the fact that New York Republicans export very large amounts of campaign money to support more conservative party candidates nationally gives them leeway with their national party leaders.
The divide between local Republicans and the national party can make it difficult for local officials to get federal aid for New York from a Republican president and a Republican controlled Congress.

Commonwealth Commonsense: National Republicans Follow Virginia GOP's Lead
It seems what happened in the this past session of the Commonwealth’s General Assembly is being replayed at the national level, where moderate Republicans are pushing back against the rabid tax-cutters who have hijacked the party.
The budget meltdown was triggered by a feud between conservative Republicans who favor continuing to cut taxes in the face of record budget deficits and GOP moderates who are pushing for curbs on tax cuts and are reluctant to slash spending.
House Republican leaders had also hoped to use the budget to quietly raise the $7.4 trillion federal debt limit, which the government could hit before the end of the summer.

Many were hopeful the intelligence bill could still be salvaged, but that hope is slipping as statements from several key Republicans indicate they are not yet willing to put politics aside in order to protect our nation.

For the Republicans, national security is just a strategy to consolidate power, and it worked in 2004 just as well as it worked in 2002.
National security takes on different forms, but it is an all inclusive subject that defies the snarling myopia that inflicts those who think the military is the only item of importance.
Plummer's and Iglesias' seizing of national defense as a prime mover in tying red and blue states together for a Democratic upsurge is flawed.

Gubernatorial hopeful Bill Simon made a "humble" appeal for help from national Republican leaders in challenging Democratic Gov. Gray Davis and sought to dissolve qualms about his campaign's effectiveness.

Specifically, Simon is seeking fund-raising help from Republicans nationwide in his race against Davis, a tireless fund-raiser who has more than $30 million in the bank.

ELECTION FALLOUT: WHAT NOW FOR BLACK REPUBLICANS? NATIONAL NEWS Section: IN THE NEWS Magazine: Black Enterprise, April, 1993
Since there are only three blacks on the 150-member Republican National Committee (RNC), black Republicans will have to find ways to prove their value to the Republican party, or they will be shut out of decision- making.
It is difficult for many blacks to comprehend how black Republicans can tout their party as having been "founded on the ideals of freedom and inclusion," and yet fail to have influence in party politics.
Even Bins admits that "[Black Republicans] haven't penetrated important areas of influence within the party." That means to boost black membership in the GOP, blacks will have to be persuaded that white GOP leaders will protect their interests.
