The actor Russell Crowe is in negotiations to buy an Australian football team, the National Rugby League's South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The Oscar winner has been a supporter of the inner city Sydney club, which won a lengthy court battle to be re-admitted to the league in 2002 after being cut from the flight competition after the 1999 season.
Crowe told the Australian Associated Press: "You're actually talking about rugby league fantasy stuff, yeah I'd like to be able to have a situation like they do in America, they have individual owners."
