 National Security Strategy Report 1998
The goal of the national security strategy is to ensure the protection of our nation’s fundamental and enduring needs: protect the lives and safety of Americans, maintain the sovereignty of the United States with its values, institutions and territory intact, and promote the prosperity and well-being of the nation and its people.
Because our shaping efforts alone cannot guarantee the international security environment we seek, the United States must be able to respond at home and abroad to the full spectrum of threats and crises that may arise.
The United States and the other leading industrialized nations are also promoting a range of World Bank and regional development bank reforms that the United States has been urging for a number of years.

NPR : Analysis: Bush Administration's National Security Strategy
It says that it is the national security policy of the United States to engender greater economic freedom and development around the world to encourage free trade, to confront the scourge of AIDS, to support education in the Third World.
And they're saying that the expansion of those ideas is in the national security of the United States.
At the dawn of the 21st century, the National Security Strategy describes freedom, democracy and free enterprise as the sole sustainable model, and it promotes the export of democracy as a major goal.

Bush pointed out that the development and acquisition of Weapons of Mass Destruction by terrorists and rogue states will require the US to identify and destroy any terrorist threat before it reaches the United States.

Full Text: Bush's National Security Strategy
The document, entitled "The National Security Strategy of the United States" was transmitted to Congress as a declaration of the Administration's foreign policy.
If NATO succeeds in enacting these changes, the rewards will be a partnership as central to the security and interests of its member states as was the case during the Cold War.
We must be prepared to stop rogue states and their terrorist clients before they are able to threaten or use weapons of mass destruction against the United States and our allies and friends.

NSC-68 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The document outlined the National Security Strategy of the United States for that time and analyzed the capabilities of the Soviet Union and of the United States of America from military, economic, political, and psychological standpoints.
NSC-68 was a 58-page classified report written in February-April 1950 by Paul Nitze and issued by the United States National Security Council on April 14, 1950 during the presidency of Harry Truman.
The report argued that the Soviet Union had a systematic strategy aimed at the spread of Communism across the entire world, and it recommended that the United States government adopt a policy of containment to stop the further spread of Communism.

HE ALLEGED JUSTIFICATION for this new strategy is the recent emergence in the United States of international terrorism.
However nationalistic may be the doctrine of the National Security Strategy, the fact is that the internationalization of the weapons trade is a result inherent in international trade itself.
One might reasonably assume, therefore, that a policy of national security would advocate from the start various practical measures to conserve and to use frugally the nation's resources, the objects of this husbandry being a reduction in the nation's dependence on imports and a reduction in the competition between nations for necessary goods.

There's a coherence in the Bush strategy that the Clinton national security team--notable for its simultaneous cultivation and humiliation of Russia--never achieved.
The article is structured on a comparison of the Bush National Security Strategy with the comparable Clinton document.

AFSA feels that it would be a mistake to overlook the United States Agency for International Development and the Foreign Service and Civil Service corps working there as eligible participants in a National Security Service Corps.
We believe that the exclusion of USAID as a national security agency is a mistake that would adversely affect a National Security Service Corps by limiting its members' view of the tools available to enhance this Nation's security.

Does India need a National Security Advisor?
While discussing the role of National Security Advisor's office, Girish Chandra Saxena, former head of the Research and Analysis Wing, opposed proposals for a national security or Intelligence czar in India and said nothing should be done which would weaken the position of the intelligence chiefs.
These were some of the issues that were discussed on January 15 at a seminar on national security organised by the association of retired senior police officers in collaboration with the India International Centre, New Delhi.
Many felt that while India needed someone at the top to coordinate national security matters, what should constitute his background and how he should operate must be decided according to India's requirements and we should not blindly imitate the US.

 NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM-46
In the context of long-term strategy, the United States can not afford a radical change in the fundamentals of its African policy, which is designed for maximum protection of national security.
Internationally, damage could be done to the United States by coordinated activity of African states designed to condemn U.S. policy toward South Africa, and initiate discussions on the U.S. racial issue at the United Nations where the African representation constitutes a powerful bloc with about one third of all the votes.
The likelihood of extremist actions by either side is negligible, but the discord may bring about tension in the internal political climate of the United States.
