National Semiconductor (NSM:NYSE - commentary - research) posted a loss in the fiscal fourth quarter, reversing a profit a year ago, and the company's guidance had its shares under pressure Thursday afternoon.
National expects fiscal first-quarter revenue to be flat to down 4% from the fourth quarter, which the company said is consistent with historical patterns during the summer quarter.
The analog semiconductor company reported revenue of $425.3 million for the fourth quarter, along with a loss of $4.4 million, or 2 cents a share.
