 Watersports Centre Splashes Out on New Facilities
Scottish excellence in watersports received a further boost today when Deputy Minister for Sport Rhona Brankin opened £200,000 new facilities, including a 'wet' lecture theatre, at the National Watersports Centre on the island of Cumbrae.
The centre at Cumbrae is one of the three national centres for sporting excellence in Scotland and provides training for sailing instructors and a national base for sea kayaking and scuba diving.
"This centre, however, is not only about pursuing excellence for our top sports men and women, it is also about increasing access to watersports.

Stockport Eighteen Plus members have just returned from a highly enjoyable long weekend away at the the National Watersports Centre at Nottingham organised annually by the National Federation of Eighteen Plus groups.
Eighteen plus is a national social and activities organisation primarily for people in the 18 to 30 age range with around 250 clubs nationally, which includes clubs in Stockport, Romiley, Cheadle, Wilmslow and Didsbury.
Activities they took part in included white water rafting, volleyball, waterskiing and for the less energetic there was a real ale trip and a barbeque.

Tideway Scullers School were out in force in the National Rowing Championships at the National Watersports Centre, Nottingham, over the weekend, winning one gold, four silvers and a bronze.
