The Salishan tongues are spoken in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
At present, the aboriginal languages of the Western Hemisphere are gradually being replaced by the Indo-European tongues of the European conquerors and settlers of the New World—English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Dutch.

Clearly, Kistemaker is asserting that the native tongue of Hellenistic Judeans was Greek.
If we assume that the tongues of Acts 2 and 1Corinthians 12-14 are of an identical nature (i.e., ecstatic utterances) and that Luke redacted the Acts 2 narrative, then the conclusion that the "tongues" were ecstatic utterances is plausible.

He learned that the native name for the fish he knew as "pout" described its habit of leading its young as a hen leads her chicks-- something he had himself observed but never found in any book.
The cause, of course, is the unfinished conquest of Native peoples and the eradication of their cultures.
Until the 1960s, Natives were forbidden to speak their own languages in schools, and children were punished for doing so.

But Miles says that regional Native American music, as wildly eclectic as it is, needs to be assembled under one umbrella or it may never reach the ears of white listeners.
Also, Miles concedes that their audience might not be too receptive to the country sounds of Native Pride, and vice versa, but he felt that only through a collective effort could the cause be advanced.
Miles, a Phoenix native, grew up in a strict Pentecostal environment, in a family so suffused with music and the Lord that his sister once sang as an opening act for gospel giant Andrae Crouch.

I'm older now and thankfully no longer believe that other than Tagalog, all the other tongues of the Philippines are dialects.
In linguistics, the term dialect usually refers to a variety of a language in a region whose inhabitants' personal use of a language are similar.
But in the Philippines and countries like China or France, it seems to have a political connotation; an unimportant tongue lacking official status, a tongue that is not promoted in the mass media, government, or schools.
