The County assumed responsibility for the library on November 3, 1909 and the white-domed Carnegie Library opened to the public on May 20, 1910.
In 1967, Natrona County's population was 56,000, library cards numbered 18,328, circulation hit 247,601 and the library held 67,812 books and 203 magazines.
The Natrona County Public Library Foundation was incorporated in 1972 to aid the library in securing money for library capital improvements and for financial support of the general library program.

 Natrona County gets $30,000 for the poor
The bad news is that the funding increase means there are more people in the county in need, said Shanna Laible, executive director of the United Way of Natrona County.
In October, the Wyoming Department of Employment reported 1,492 unemployed people in Natrona County for a rate of 4.1 percent -- roughly the same amount as last year at the same time.
The money is distributed by local boards, chaired in Natrona County by Laible, that will meet early next year.

 Heavy rain hits Natrona County
Monday and dropped an estimated 2 to 3 inches of rain in less than two hours over much of Natrona County and Casper, said Mark Cunningham, the lead meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Riverton.
There was one tornado warning in southwestern Natrona county but it was not a confirmed tornado, Cunningham said.
There was roughly 3 inches of mud on the roadway, which was cleared by a snowplow, said Cpl. Lynn Cohee with the county's emergency management office.
