NRDC's Children's Environmental Health Initiative was launched in 1989 following the release of Intolerable Risk: Pesticides in Our Children's Food, a NRDC report that represented the first detailed analysis of children's exposure to pesticides in food and a determination of the potential hazards posed by these residues.

Natural Resources Defense Council Lawsuit Against EPA's Fluoride MCLG (1986)
In response to EPA's alteration of the fluoride standard, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) filed suit against the Agency arguing that the new, weakened standard was unprotective of public health and a violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Ultimately, however, the Court barred the EPA Union from joining the suit, and rejected NRDC's suit on the basis of the deference afforded to EPA Administration in rulemaking matters.
EPA's response to NRDC's challenge is to ask this Court to defer to the Agency's judgment and thereby create a judicial exception to the mandate of the SDWA that an RMCL must provide protection to all persons against known and anticipated health effects of drinking water contaminants.

Yup, you read that right: Throughout North America and the world, natural, biologically diverse, and irreplaceable forests -- in some cases old-growth, never-harvested forests that host some of the world's most inspiring and important species and freshwater eco-regions -- are being converted into toilet paper.
Our goal is to get these transnational corporations and absentee landowners to shift their raw material sourcing and production away from the biologically irreplaceable ecosystems found in the Cumberland Plateau and, instead, rely on post-consumer recycled paper fibers or ecologically superior agricultural residues for their raw materials.
