The present crater is remarkable for the absolute perpendicu larity of its walls, and has an immense depth from 600 to 800 ft. It is circular, 3/4 m.

Except for measurements of Mesting A crater with the purpose to study LPhL with heliometr Repsold at EAO the observations of a number of craters were carried out for determining there selenodesic coordinates.

Thus, the present-day lack of seismicity down to very small magnitude ranges (M≃0) in the vicinity of Yucca Mountain (Gomberg, 1991) may be an indication of either active dike intrusion at depth or the fact that the regional strain accumulation was largely relieved by the Quaternary basaltic volcanic events.
The three percent lower velocity anomaly identified under Crater Flat is considerably smaller in magnitude than velocity anomalies associated with known large-scale high silica magma chambers, such as Long Valley, where velocity decreases of six to eight percent are typically found (Iyer, 1988).

However, if the laser beam is initially focused close to the sample surface, fractionation increases and is influenced by the formation of a crater during repetitive pulsing at a single sample location.
As the ratio of crater depth to radius increases, plasma sampling and/or an effective irradiance decrease could cause additional fractionation.
