Upon graduation, Naval Academy Midshipmen are commissioned as Ensigns in the U.S. Navy or Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps, and must serve a minimum of five years after their commissioning.
The Naval Academy Preparatory School is the official prep school for the Navy and Coast Guard Academies.
Following the Air Force Academy sexual assault scandal and due to concern with sexual assault in the U.S. military the Department of Defense was required to establish a task force to investigate sexual harassment and assault at the United States military academies in the law funding the military for fiscal 2004.

The latest skirmish is being fought in a corner of the admissions world that doesn't usually receive much scrutiny--the highly competitive and famously arduous U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
The brouhaha began last month when Bruce Fleming, a professor of English at the academy, argued in the flagship journal of the U.S. Naval Institute that the academy lowers academic standards significantly for what he calls "set-aside" groups--minorities, athletes, and enlisted men and women who apply after serving in the fleet.
Too many students, he maintains, are being given the nod in spite of C-level work in high school and SAT scores 200 to 300 points lower than the academy's impressive 1310 average.

The U.S. Naval Academy has confiscated the computers of about 100 midshipmen who allegedly have pirated music and movies on their hard drives.
In October, the Recording Industry Association of America and three other entertainment groups sent a letter to 2,300 colleges and universities -- including the Naval Academy -- urging the schools to "impose effective remedies against violators" of copyright law.
Last week, academy officials confiscated the student computers suspected of containing the unauthorized files while their owners were in class, Spann said.

Currently Im a PO3 in the Navy who will be attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School this year with subsequent attendance to the Naval Academy proper.
Also, there are several interviews with plebes as well as upperclassmen on how to survive at the academy.
As a candidate having to go through the admissions process for the SECOND TIME I found the book to be most insightful as to what I had done that may not have helped my application.
