Ironically, it's Andrews' own penchant for older women that generated fame of the wrong kind when he was just a young man. At the age of 16, Andrews caused quite the commotion in his home land when he fell in love with his teacher Geraldine Feakins, with whom he has a son named Jaisal.
Andrews is also delighted that his character Sayid, a former Iraqi soldier, has been allowed to be the hero instead of the villain on the show.
Andrews' goal is to continue to skewer people's preconceived notions about one another with the roles he plays.

 The Trades - Naveen Andrews
It would be more than an understatement to say that the creators of “Lost” took a major risk by making one of the main characters of their show a former Iraqi Republican Guard member, especially considering the current political climate in the United States.
With the tight-lipped nature of “Lost’s” writers, Andrews is unsure of what direction Sayid will take in the future, but he has his own idea of what he’d like to do with the role.
Yet, as much satisfaction as Andrews draws from playing music, it is the praise he draws for his acting that is the most gratifying to him.
