Navistar plans to reduce HAP emissions from most of the plant by 90 percent before the applicable Maximum Achievable Control Technology air pollution rules are proposed.
Navistar also is working to implement a lead-free electrodeposition coating which would eliminate the D008 (lead contaminated) hazardous waste generated from this process.

Truck and bus maker Navistar International Corp., the parent of International Truck and Engine Corp., said Wednesday it will build a new diesel-engine assembly plant in Huntsville, Ala.
Navistar said more than 175 employees are expected to work at the new International facility, which will produce Class 8 "big-bore" truck diesel engines.
International's existing Huntsville plant -- International Diesel of Alabama, LCC -- produces engines for International trucks as well as Ford trucks and vans.

Navistar, based in Warrenville, Ill., said it received a default notice last week from holders of more than 25 percent of the subordinated exchangeable notes due 2009.
According to Navistar's filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, note holders consider Navistar to be in default because it didn't provide a trustee for the notes with an annual report for its year ended Oct. 31, 2005, in a timely manner.
Navistar intends to file its report with the SEC as soon as possible, the filing said.

The new CXT -- short for commercial extreme truck and built from the same platform as the heavy-truck maker's typical tow truck or cement mixer -- will be sold starting this week by Navistar's International Truck & Engine subsidiary.
At 258 inches, or 21-1/2 feet long, the CXT is about 4-1/2 feet longer than the new Hummer H2 pickup, and about 2 inches longer than the F-350 Crew Cab.
