Navotas City, Philippines (AHN) - The Philippine government has tapped the services of over 100 out-of-school-youths to clean up and patrol coastlines and riverbank in Navotas City, Philippines north of the capital Manila, in an effort to declog waterways and prevent flooding.
Aside from cleaning up the coastline and the riverbanks along the Navotas Flood Control Dike, Oyster volunteers will also be tasked to do patrol duties to prevent people from throwing garbage into the waterways which clog the river and causes flooding.
Navotas City is a key fishing community in Metro Manila.

During a press conference held at the town hall yesterday, he and Vice Mayor Patrick Joseph Javier backed by council members, blew the whistle on the cityhood author, Sandoval, who ironically was stalling by pushing for special congressional elections.
House Bill 5500 Section 62 has provided that the City of Navotas shall continue to be part of the Malabon-Navotas Legislative District.
