United States Navy Mark 12 Mod X Special Purpose Rifle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States Navy Mark 12 Mod 0/1 Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) is a rifle that has been in service with the United States special forces in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
It was eventually type classified by the Navy as the Mk 12, though the Army also uses this designation.
The SPR program was an outgrowth of the desire by both US Army and Navy special forces for a rifle with greater effective range than an M4 type Carbine but still shorter in length than a standard issue M16A2/A4.

 U.S. Navy Torpedoes (part five)
In 1946 the total number of ships in the US Navy was about one-fifth what it had been in 1945, there were fewer than half as many destroyers, one fourth as many submarines and one tenth as many destroyer escorts.
In 1946 the US Navy found itself with huge stocks of a variety of operational torpedoes and numerous torpedo projects in various stages of completion.
Annual expenditures for the Navy in 1946 were a third of what they had been in 1945 and fell to one fourth the 1945 level by 1947.

 US Navy Torpedoes (part three)
Mark 42 was, however a significant milestone in that it was the last mark assigned to a US Navy non-homing torpedo.
US Navy interest in electric torpedoes began in 1915 with a project at Sperry Gyroscope Co. Successor in-house projects, again sporadic, produced designs and development models designated "EL" and Electric Torpedo Mk.1.
A Navy (NTS-Newport) monopoly of the torpedo business such as existed with steam torpedoes from 1922 to 1941 disappeared and has not been re-established in the years since WW II Full scale production of torpedoes at NTS Newport ended in 1946 and the Goat Island facility was totally closed by 1951.

MOD: Military spending to favour tech - ZDNet UK News
In a speech on Thursday to announce the publication of a white paper detailing the MOD plans for the modernisation of the armed forces, the defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, claimed new technology would be key to creating a mobile and flexible fighting force capable of staying ahead of potential adversaries.
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has rejected opposition claims that its planned investment in new technology is actually a "smokescreen" for cost-cutting.
The reality is that in order to pay for new capabilities the MOD will have to defer or cancel elements of major equipment or programmes or freeze recruiting.

 NavyDiver.org - History
As far back as the 1800s, but more in the early 1900s, the US Navy was involved in deep salvage operations and already gaining an appreciation for the limits of deep airdiving and the need for better equipment and techniques.
Even though most of the following dates relate to US Navy diving, it would be remiss to omit the contributions of the early British inventors such as Augustus Siebe and Sir Robert Davis; eminent Scottish physiologist John Scott Haldane; the Royal Navy; and a French naval Lieutenant by the name of Cousteau.
Although NAVY DIVER.ORG primarily documents US Navy diving today, it is important to appreciate the significant influence that US Navy diving and research has had on all aspects of deep-sea diving.

 NavyDiver.org - Equipment
The current lightweight diving mask used by navy divers is the MK 20 Aga mask, which has two-way communications and a normal working depth limit for the navy of 60 feet.
Not to be forgotten, it is still a source of considerable pride for a navy diver to be able to claim that he had been trained on the venerable MK V heavy gear.
However, in ’78 and ’79 NEDU was developing four new systems; the Mark 11 semi-closed circuit system; the Mark 14 “push/pull” to conserve helium and extend dive times on saturation dives; the MK 15 UBA mixed gas rebreather; and the MK 12 SSDS.

Lancers Reactor: Fuel for the Flight
The Anubis is the weakest fighter in the Vasudan Navy.
Given that it is a quantam leap over what the Liberty Navy was using, it is expected that they will begin re-equipping their fleets with this still-potent vessel.
A new state-of-the-art targeting system and an upgrade to the gimbal-mounted turret systems have been incorporated into the current Mark 3b version of this classic strike craft, and should serve to keep the Shield effective in combat for the foreseeable future.

 Navy Training System Plan
This Navy Training System Plan (NTSP) has been developed by the Naval Air Systems Command to identify Manpower, Personnel, and Training requirements associated with the Consolidated (2.75 Inch and 5.0 Inch) Rocket Systems.
Most of the Navy 2.75 Inch rocket warheads and fuzes are Army configurations, which have been qualified (by test and evaluation) for Navy use.
The current rationale for allocation of ordnance-related billets in Navy and Marine Corps squadrons is not based on overall maintenance workload, but on maintaining weapons loading capabilities.

 patch-2.5.65-bk2.log
Add local_df field to struct sk_buff to mark packets which are to be fragmented locally despite of their IPv6ness of IP DF flag 2.
This patch makes us bail out in case we may have an interrupt which couldn't be associated with an interrupt controller.
Without this we allow unconfigured interrupts to be assigned and then later on we get "unexpected IRQ trap at vector xx" during the ack phase.

 MK-46 Torpedo
The three major torpedoes in the Navy inventory are the Mark 48 heavyweight torpedo, the Mark 46 lightweight and the Mark 50 advanced lightweight.
The MK-46 Mod 5 torpedo is the backbone of the Navy's lightweight ASW torpedo inventory and is expected to remain in service until the year 2015.
They are also used as parts of other weapons; the Mark 46 torpedo becomes the warhead section of the ASROC (Anti-Submarine ROCket) and the Captor mine uses a submerged sensor platform that releases a torpedo when a hostile contact is detected.

Naval Technology - LPD 17 (San Antonio Class) Landing Platform Dock.
However, in June 2002, the US Navy signed an MoU with Northrop Grumman and Bath Iron Works, making Northrop Grumman responsible for the construction of all San Antonio Class vessels, while Bath is the builder of four Arleigh Burke destroyers, previously assigned to Northrop Grumman.
In December 1996 the U.S. Navy awarded a contract to an industrial alliance led by Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (formerly Litton Avondale), with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Raytheon Electronic Systems and Intergraph Corporation, to design and construct the first of an anticipated 12 ships under the Navy's LPD 17 program.
SSDS is also to be fitted to the US Navy projected new carriers (CVN 76) and destroyers (DD-X).

Some of us are trying to "clean up our own messes", but US policies (or lack of more accurately) are largely preventing this at the moment.
As far as the US being a greater threat than Iraq and Iran - considering that both are pursuing nuclear weapons, and both have sworn to use them as soon as they get them, I'd say they present a greater threat.
Not because liberals want it to but because it will make economic sense and the pleasure of driving electric will exceed the pleasure of driving internal combustion engines.
