The people living around Branch Avenue and Auth Road wanted it to end there, at the original terminus Maryland voters first approved in 1968, to serve the businesses of what was then known as "the strip" and the homes there.
Metro is struggling with a rail car shortage as it waits for 192 new rail cars to become ready for service later this year.
Metro projected 22,000 daily customers would utilize the stations after the first six months with new riders making up 18,000 of the projected ridership.

Metro will begin running three new bus routes on Nov. 21 specifically designed to serve Anacostia Senior High students and ease after-school crowding on existing routes.
Metro officials said the D.C. government has agreed to pay an estimated $20,000 annually for the special bus service.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, which operates Metro, makes available special passes for students who use Metrorail and Metrobus to get to school.

Several road improvement projects are being completed this month, one in the area of the Wilson Bridge project and the other in the District: -- The Wilson Bridge Project reports that South Washington Street will permanently return to four traffic lanes from South Street through the Washington Street Beltway overpass as early as Monday.
South Washington Street has been reduced from four to three travel lanes to accommodate construction of a new Beltway overpass.

In order for the restoration of the river to happen, the entire watershed area of the river must be addressed, and Maryland and DC must work together to achieve this vision.
The Northeast Branch and Northwest Branch are the two largest tributary streams of the river, and they join together in Bladensburg, MD, near to the Peace Cross intersection of Bladensburg Road, Annapolis Road and Baltimore Avenue.
This confluence point is the beginning of the main stem of the Anacostia, and the river continues to flow southward into the District, until it meets the Potomac River at Hains Point.
