		At 44 degrees N. Latitude and surrounded by mountains, Nayoro experiences temperatures rangeing from +35 degrees in summer to -35 degrees in winter and although rainfall is moderate, snowfalle is heavy.
		Nayoro boasts the best snow for skiing anywhere in Japan and offers two areas for downhill skiing at Piyashiri ski-jo and ample opportunity for cross country skiing.
		Nayoro is known as an area producing glutenous rice (used in making mochi and "arare"), and delicious vegetable, in particular, winter squash, green asparugus, and potatoes.

		We were excited when we arrived to the snow sculpture park in Nayoro but we were not expecting the two new religions, "Pokemon" and "Hello Kitty".
		We traveled from far to gather with the citizens of Nayoro with large piles of snow and wonderful hospitality; we sought adventure and friendship and found both.
