Nazir was under tremendous psychological pressure when he reached the Everest Advance Base Camp, as nine climbers had perished on Everest in a single day in mid May 1997 due to strong and high winds.
In spite of the perils of climbing at night, Nazir Sabir, to avoid the strong winds, decided to continue his ascent utilising the moon light; pushing himself to the limits.
Nazir Sabir would remain a beacon of hard work, struggle and courage for all those who venture into the domains of rugged high altitude and put themselves to the hazardous and perilous occupation of mountaineering.

Sabir and his teammate Webster made it to the top of the 8848-metre (29,000 feet) mountain, alongwith four Nepalese high altitude Serpa guides who have climbed the Everest in earlier expeditions also.
With this outstanding feat, Sabir, born in 1955 at Raminj, a remote village of upper Gojal-Hunza, in Gilgit district of Northern Areas under Pakistan occupation, has scaled five of the world's 14 high peaks of 8,000m, including K-2 which is the second higher peak of the world located in the Himalayas under Pakistan occupation.

In 1988 he founded Nazir Sabir Expeditions which is a recognised leader for adventure holidays which has resulted in extensive travel to promote the culture, history and environment of Pakistan.
Between 24 and 29 August 2002, a team composed of Harish Kapadia and Mandip Singh Soin from India, Sher Khan and Nazir Sabir from Pakistan, Jamie Andrew from Scotland, and Julie-Ann Clyma and Roger Payne representing the UIAA, climbed several peaks in the Swiss Alps, notably the Monch (4099m).

Nazir Sabir got the chance to climb K2 in 1981 by accompanying a Japanese Waseda University Expedition to K-2 attempting the West and South West ridge rather than the usual Abruzzi ridge.
Nazir Sabir in 1982, along with Sher Khan joined the famous Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner in his attempt to scale Broad Peak (8047 m) and Gasherbrum II (8035 m) in one attempt.
Nazir Sabir’s attempt on the Everest in 1997 resulted in failure., but on 17 May 2000, climbing in a full moon in the night to avoid high winds he reached Everest at 0730 hours.
