Ndola’s airport is on the southern side of the centre of town, and well signposted off to the right as you enter town from the south.
Ndola’s main bus terminus is at the southern end of Chimwemwe Road, less than a kilometre south of the Savoy Hotel – though some buses can be caught around the back of the Savoy.
Ndola is quite a big town, so good hitch spots are a long walk from the centre – so consider getting a taxi for a few kilometres.

We conducted the study in Ndola, a major urban center in the Copper Belt of Zambia; in 1990, its estimated population was 375,000.
The HIV prevalence rate in Ndola is as high as or higher than the average for urban areas in Zambia: A recent study recorded prevalence rates in Ndola at 20% among adult men and 30% among adult women.
Data from a probability sample of married women and men living in the urban Ndola district showed that 16% of husbands said they were currently in a sexual relationship with a woman other than their wife, and among those men, 43% said they were not using any contraceptive method in those relationships.

Ndola, Zambia, 31 August 2004 – The second phase of UN-HABITAT’s Values-based Water and Sanitation Education programme is now underway in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia following a Water for African Cities training workshop in the Zambian Copper Belt city of Ndola.
Andrew Mulenga, officially opened the workshop with Ndola Mayor Hamson Chisenga and senior Zambian education officials, and experts from the other four countries who will start the programme in their countries.
The trainees at the Ndola workshop included curriculum development specialists drawn from curriculum development centres and teacher training colleges; subject specialists from pre-school, primary and secondary school levels; non-formal education specialists; representatives of water utilities; and the private sector.

Agreed, that time has gone by and the country has gone through some difficult times and things are a bit different to-day, nevertheless, Zambia still has the potential of becoming a leading nation in that part of the world.
I was born in Mpika, grew up in Ndola and that was the only place I really knew.

A petroleum pipeline between Dar-es-Salaam and Ndola was opened in 1968, and, with the help of China, the Great Uhuru (Tanzam or Tazara) Railway connecting Dar-es-Salaam and Zambia was opened in 1975.
In addition, the country halted imports of coal (used especially in the copper industry) from Rhodesia; mining in S Zambia increased until it supplied most of the country's needs.
