Attiki Odos is 2 km south with an interchange to the north and is chaped with a roundabout.

The Athens metropolitan area is currently growing both northwards and eastwards across Attica and it constitutes the dominant center of economic, financial, industrial, cultural and political life in Greece as well as in the Balkans today.
Athens sprawls across the central plain of Attica, which is bound by Mount Aegaleo in the west, Mount Parnitha in the north, Mount Penteli in the northeast, Mount Hymettus in the east, and the Saronic Gulf in the southwest.
It is only on such days that temperature maxima shoot over 38°C. The all time high temperature for the metropolitan area of Athens is +45.0°C and was measured at the Nea Filadelfia suburb (July 2000, HNMS station); the equivalent all time low temperature record is -10.8°C and was measured at the Votanikos station.

Two die as heavy rains cause flash floods and traffic chaos in Athens ----------------------------------------------------------------- Athens, 22/10/1994 (ANA): An elderly couple were found drowned in their basement apartment in Nea Ionia late last night after heavy rains in Athens caused flash flooding across the city.
Attica Prefect Dimitris Katrivanos appealed to the public to stay home and leave the roads free for fire department vehicles, police, electricity and phone line workers to get through.
Interior Under-Secretary Kimon Koulouris told the ANA that the fire department and police were on alert, adding that the situation in the northern suburbs of Nea Ionia, Neo Iraklio, Kifissia and Halandri was particularly severe.

 ATHOC chief sums up results from August's 'test events'
The head of the Athens 2004 organizing committee (ATHOC) on Tuesday reiterated that her organization retains the wholehearted support of Greek political parties and the country’s citizens, speaking to reporters a week after the last of seven Olympic “test events” concluded in and around the Greek capital.
During a scheduled press conference at ATHOC’s Nea Ionia headquarters, Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki also referred to one of the “blights” that tarnished the test events’ image early on, namely, a mass food poisoning outbreak that prevented the German junior rowing team for participating in the rowing championship.
Hotel food contaminated with salmonella was blamed for the incident, just days before the new Schinias Rowing and Canoeing Centre, in the northwest Attica prefecture and very near the ancient battlefield of Marathon, was inaugurated.

On Monday morning, during an operation in Pangrati, Attica Police broke up yet another baby-smuggling ring, as they arrested three Bulgarians who they were trying to sell a 20-day-old infant to a couple from Northern Greece.
Four gypsies, all members of the gang accused of a series of robberies and burglaries in houses in western Greece and NE Attica, were remanded in custody.
According to the police, which arrested the defendants after a major operation last Wednesday, the four gypsies including a 16-year-old are implicated in the murder of an 80-year-old woman in Ypato, Viotia.
