Nearly Headless Nick is the nickname of the ghost of Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington, a wizard who died in a botched execution on October 31, 1492 (CS8).
Nick wears a doublet, a dashing plumed hat, and a tunic with a ruff to hide the fact that his head is nearly severed.
On December 18, 1992, Nick was Petrified by the gaze of a basilisk, the creature from the Chamber of Secrets.

I'm pretty sure that when JK described Nearly Headless Nick pulling his left ear, she meant that he was pulling his left ear with her LEFT hand and that he was pulling DOWN and not up.

Both the regular Deatheater and the Nearly Headless Nick are regular releases, and the runs were 1500 each.  Lucius Malfoy in his Deatheater garb was an SDCC only exclusive, and as such they only made 500 of him. 
Nearly Headless Nick looks almost exactly like the Cleese character.  It’s not quite as perfect as either the Snape or Dumbledore, but it’s damn close.  The face is a little flat to be perfect, and that may actually be an issue of the mold, not the original sculpt.
Nick is in a classic pose, exposing his neck to you, just so you know why his name is Nearly Headless, instead of just Headless.  His expression also implies that he’s none to happy about it, and would have been much happier had they finished the job cleanly.

Nick seems to suffer from being only nearly headless.
Maybe the trio will have to find Nicks grave and complete in what the hangman failed so that Nick can join the hunt of the headless and get them to join a future coalition against Voldie.
It wouldn't apply in Nick's case, anyway, since his execution occurred almost five hundred years after Hogwarts was founded.
