I will check on Tuesday with the Hawai`i AG about the alleged request to Nebraska, Michigan and other states, but I suspect that this might be the work of attorney Charles Cooper.
He couldn't say for sure if Attorney General Frank Kelley (a Democrat) had personally signed off on it, but he was pretty sure he had.
The Michigan SG thought it "accurately stated" the case and he thought it was "appropriate" so he made a recommendation in favor of the brief and sent it up the chain of command.

In February, the Attorney General of Maryland issued a memo to county clerks reminding them that Maryland law defines marriage specifically as a union between a man and a woman.
Lawsuits have now been filed in New York, Oregon, Massachusetts, Washington (the state), California, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Florida to allow homosexuals to marry.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of nine same-sex couples, as well as a man whose partner died recently.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning asked that the seven pending lawsuits in four states over use of water from the Missouri River be combined into one action.
He said Nebraska needs to protect its interests in the river, which include maintaining adequate water for power plants, recreation, wildlife, irrigation, drinking and barge traffic.
Bruning filed the consolidation request with the Federal Multi-District Litigation Panel in Washington.
