A panhandle is an informal geographic term for an elongated tail-like protrusion of a geo-political entity, such as a subnational entity or a sovereign state.
A panhandle is similar to a peninsula in shape, but unlike a peninsula it is not surrounded by water on three sides and connected to a geographical mainland.
Instead, a panhandle is delimited by a land border on at least one side and extends out from the larger geographical body of the administrative unit.

The second prototype, a 20 ft. wide unit, was brought to Nebraska and assembled to the Deere and Co. Model 9500 combine loaned to the University of Nebraska by Deere and Co. The role of the University of Nebraska was to observe the performance of the system and make recommendations for future development.
The combine was operated in a total of seven fields, five of which were observed by personnel from the University of Nebraska.
