Necare (pronounced neh-KA-reh) is a Latin verb meaning "to kill, murder, or destroy".
Necare's sound can be best described as atavistic: they craft a raw, melodic soundscape eerily reminiscent of three early '90s UK doom/death bands that were influential to so many - while adding to the mix a substantial dose of tranquil atmosphere.
For most, their debut release -"Ruin"- will be an introduction to this relatively obscure project from the United States.

Necare released a great album of which I was really impressed.
Necare is a two-piece musical project that plays atmospheric doom death metal.
In general, Necare`s too heavy and downbeat for the goth crowd; not technical or fast enough for the death metallers; and too raw and brutal for the mainstream.

 The Metal Crypt - Interviews
Necare are a new band from the USA who do Doom Metal the way it should be done: slow, epic, riffy and emotional.
I was impressed enough with this young band's debut to ask them some questions about their past and future, and they were good enough to answer.
Necare, however, was mainly inspired by the great doom/death bands of the early 90's – Anathema, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Cathedral, Katatonia – as well as by later stuff like Saturnus and Shape of Despair.

This is the debut for this band from the legendarily fertile Doom-grounds of Virginia, and I have to say I am mightily impressed.
But overall Necare create their own soundscape, yet remain firmly within the boundaries of their genre – and they do it very well.
Necare have made an album at once gloomy, emotional, bleak, and above all entertaining.

Necare is a duo that recorded their first, I think, full length album at The Recording Zone with J.
Necare’s music is a very dark, atmospheric and mournful form of Doom/Death Metal with sad lyrics and a funeral atmosphere.
Don’t expect some melancholic and neo-romantic bullshit either, because Necare is too strong, too firm, too heavy for such side-leaps.

Necare is the collective work of both Ryan Henry (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals) and Jonathan Greer Cawthon (drums, guitar, keyboards).
Necare was founded back in 1999 in Lynchburg Virginia and together these two gentlemen play a style of doom/death metal very similar to early My Dying Bride and Anathema.
Regardless of the blatant similarities Necare is one dynamic act especially bearing in mind only two people are involved in the writing process.

Necare recorded an unreleased demo in 1999, and a second self-released (now out of print) demo in 2000, which was generally well received by the few that heard it.
Touching on themes of spiritual apostasy and the abandonment of faith in the face of mortality, "Ruin" will be available in 2004.
Curious listeners can be assured of Necare´s dedication to creating emotionally suffocating doom/death metal - at times crushing and slow; often regal; never lacking bleakness or sorrow; equally hateful and serene; and ever mindful of the past.

Necare is one of those bands that is easily overlooked because of their genre and limited exposure, if you do give these guys a chance you will indeed love them.
It's classic doom with just the right touch of melancholy, the vocals are outstanding the guy has such a brutal growl, if any of you guys like Doom at all it would be wise for you to give them a chance.

Necare is such a relatively unknown band, although they already went through the usual setbacks most underground bands have to face in the dawn of their career.
Although Necare does have its own, typical sound -which is far from the modern, polished doom sound we got used to lately- it clearly doesn't seek to experiment or to introduce innovation in the doom genre.
Necare is a duo from Virginia that specializes in summoning the spirits of the early '90s doom/death bands that pretty much shaped the sound of modern melodic doom.

The subject of the review is Necare debut album on Firebox Records, “Ruin”.
Necare is a Latin verb for “to kill, destroy, murder”, lyrically, the album is inspired in the loss that death bring to the living, and the failure of humanity and religion to explain the inevitability of tragedy and despair.
The album starts with a sorrowful intro, “Stillborn Twilight”, a calm guitar accompanied by a wailing violin, this track sets the mood perfectly for “Rite Of Shrouds”, a perfectly executed song, totally flawless when it comes in terms with the sadness that resides deep within each musical note.

Playing the music you like, and sparing nary a thought for whether it is particularly fashionable or innovative at any given point in time, must be a great feeling for a musician.
Necare are almost certainly one such band: harvesting influence from early '90s British doom, this American duo indulge in a form of doom/death metal that may not be exactly groundbreaking, but nonetheless remains welcome when done properly -- and for the most part, _Ruin_ is done properly.
Indeed, the first three tracks after the intro -- all of which tend to scream _Serenades_ era Anathema -- rank among the most accomplished doom I've heard in a long while.
