 SoundtrackNet : Ned Kelly Soundtrack
The solo trumpet begins "Ned Kelly", and it is here that Badelt's string orchestrations first show their power: the theme is played in the violins and countered by the cellos and again by the bass, and together the three lines dance through a series of heartbreaking chords and suspensions.
In the movie, one is background and hardly audible, the other lip-synched by a live group in the scene, so I'm not sure how necessary these were to include on the soundtrack.
Overall, Ned Kelly is a beautiful score both on album and on screen that captures every nuance of the film from the displaced and marginalized Irish culture to war to the tragic story of Ned Kelly.

Like father like son, it would seem, as before too long our Ned is on the run from the police, stealing from the rich to give to the poor and stopping only to launch yet another round of witless obscenities at the police.
It's just one of many instances where Ned is seen acting the bastard, only to have his actions forgiven by either some dimwit narration or feebly-contrived excuse.
Kelly and his gang (among them the dismal Orlando "always the bridesmaid" Bloom) are also portrayed as surprisingly well-educated for the bunch of dirt-dwelling minks they effectively are, displaying a facility for speaking in fluent Chinese and even managing to grasp the rudimentary concepts behind Acts of Parliament.

A large amount of the film has the Kelly gang in hiding and moving in the shadows, this could have caused a few problems with the image, but luckily a great job has been done on the shadows and fl levels for us, giving an excellent image even during the regular night scenes.
