 Human Genome Sequenced
It’s not only like finding a needle in a haystack, but finding a needle that’s been broken into a dozen different pieces scattered about in the hay.
As the "Journey into the Genome" article says, "The genome is a museum of the viral infections suffered by humanity and its ancestors.
For one thing, the genome decoders reported that about 200 of our 30,000 genes appear to have been pretty much cribbed directly from bacteria that infected our proto-cells millions of years ago.

I have decided that finding a needle in a haystack is pretty easy, it just depends on how valuable the needle is. In the case of looking for Usui, some of the hay has been carted away (not all data still physically exists).
So far I have found less than 15 Usui's out of many thousands of names, so the first Mikao Usui I find is likely to be the correct one.
One of the things going for us, is that Mikao Usui is not a common name.

Talk:List of songs about suicide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I removed the song "Needle in the Hay" from the Alleged Suicide Songs list because although the song may have been used during the attempted suicide scene in the Wes Anderson movie The Royal Tenenbaums, the song itself is obviously about drug addiction and IV needle usage.
The 'official' explanation for this song is that it is indeed intended to portray Pink's alienation.
When placed in context with the rest of the album (The Wall), the song has more to do with the completion of a wall that surrounds the main character, Pink, and thus acts as a final farewell to the world without as the wall is completed.

 Definition of Elliott Smith
Smith battled depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction for many years, some of which is sometimes evident in his music, such as the song "Needle in the Hay." He died in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California at age 34, from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
"While his history of depression is compatible with suicide, and the location and direction of the stab wounds are consistent with self-infliction, several aspects of the circumstances (as are known at this time) are atypical of suicide and raise the possibility of homicide.
Originally reported as a suicide, the official autopsy report released in late December 2003 left the question open:

mtv.com - News - Elliott Smith, Polyphonics Bring Balance To 'Thumbsucker' Soundtrack
Smith was no stranger to soundtrack work: He garnered an Oscar nomination for his work on Gus Van Sant's 1997 film "Good Will Hunting" and was approached by Wes Anderson to record Beatles covers for "The Royal Tenenbaums," though the collaboration never came to fruition (the film did use Smith's composition "Needle in the Hay").
Distraught over Smith's death and left in the lurch for his soundtrack, the filmmaker attended a show by the Polyphonic Spree — a group that includes a 20-odd-member chorus and performs wearing choral robes — that left him electrified and inspired.
In the last few weeks of Smith's life, he completed a cover of Cat Stevens' "Trouble" for the soundtrack, which is believed to be one of the last songs he ever recorded.

Smith's tragic end will no doubt seal his legacy as a Drake-like poet of gloom; his song "Needle in the Hay" provided the soundtrack to a suicide attempt in Wes Anderson's film The Royal Tenenbaums, another film that drew attention to his music.
Six of Smith's songs appeared on the Good Will Hunting soundtrack, but perhaps more striking was the way Van Sant incorporated the songs into the fabric of the film, using them to fill in the silences.
Like Drake, Smith's output is striking and spare: Six full-length solo albums, three with his old band Heatmiser, and, true to the independent ethic that defined and dogged him throughout his career, a few handfuls of EPs and seven-inch releases.

Elliott Smith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Smith battled depression [2], alcoholism, and drug addiction for many years, which is sometimes evident in his music; however, seemingly obvious songs such as "Needle in the Hay" were frequently misinterpreted to be about his own battles, when in reality his own problems with drugs did not develop until years later.
His final album was released posthumously by the Anti label in 2004.
He recorded three solo albums on independent labels (including Kill Rock Stars) and two more on DreamWorks Records.

Undertow: The Suzanne Vega Message Board: Elliott Smith dead at 34
His first two albums, 1994's Roman Candle and the next year's self-titled LP for Olympia, Washington's Kill Rock Stars label, intimated these subjects with haunting, sparsely recorded acoustic songs such as "Needle in the Hay" that drew comparisons to 1960s singer/songwriter Nick Drake and Simon and Garfunkel.
XO and his final album, 2000's Figure 8, both released on major-label DreamWorks Records, were marked by lush textures and acoustic melodies inspired by the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson and latter-day Beatles, that brimmed with a sunny brilliance, but still retained Smith's keen commentaries and forlorn sentiments.
Roman Candle, on which he played all the instruments, was recorded on a four-track and epitomized the lo-fi DIY aesthetic while showcasing Smith's talent to craft emotive song structures that emphasized the dark themes of his lyrics.
