According unofficial results released Wednesday, the Forest Glen neighborhood was the only one to approve increasing property taxes to pay for Regional Transportation District Eco Passes for residents, with 107 voting in favor and 51 opposed.
The neighborhood where the question was approved becomes a general improvement district where property taxes rise to make Eco Passes available to everyone who lives within district boundaries - homeowners and renters alike.

In late June 2003 the neighbors along the 67 Bus line in Kensington and Berkeley, California were awakened by the loud roar of a 30 foot diesel bus.
Due to AC Transit's adamant refusal to change anything with the route, bus size or frequency, the community is currently suing AC Transit for an Environmental Impact Report and to force them to make a change in the Line 67.
The Beloit Ave residents, who never had a bus on their street, were shocked that AC Transit could suddenly run a huge bus up their narrow, steep street without informing anyone in the neighborhood.

Bus routes that formerly were rush-hour-only (16S,U,W,X) have been revised to offer all-day service along Columbia Pike.

Decreased convenience made it harder to use the bus, either ART or Metro, partly because the wait was longer in the neighborhood and partly because it was now harder to access buses on Columbia Pike via Wakefield Street.
The bus stop at Wakefield was discontinued because it was too close to the stops at Buchanan and Taylor and the increased travel time for those passengers on the bus could not be justified by the ridership generated.
If there was even one person per bus trip, a case could be made that there was a potential that should be further explored.

The only people that are losing out are the kids because they have to get up early in the morning just to ride the bus miles away from home, not to mention when they get sick the parents have to drive miles to get their child.
Garfield was renovated to be a neighborhood school, not a "choice" school, albeit it is not functioning as one.
