  Binqi and expelling binqi
Up to the present day TCM practitioners often use this theory in treating patients: in the case of insufficient healthy qim reinforce or tonify (bu), in the case of too much sick qi, expel or purge (xie).
Different chapters of the Huandi Neijin use different terms to refer to these six different kinds of xieqi: liuyin, liuxie and liuqi are used to refer to these six chinese words.
Another chapter of the Huandi Neijin, Feng Ren, states: 'Wind governs the one hundred diseases', meaning that wind is the most important cause of disease.

One camp is definitely of the opinion that you should develop neijin (or ‘internal strength’) before you attempt Tai Chi applications training, let alone sparring, otherwise your sparring will simply be ‘external’ movement.
This neijin training may even begin with a period of training, where you do nothing but standing for an hour a day for three years!
Their logic is that if you spar too early, and haven’t developed the specific way of moving related to neijin then you will simply reinforce bad habits and never ‘get it’.

When one performs a Neijin, their character grows in size for a second, shrinking back to normal size seconds later.
The Neijin lasts for a couple seconds, and allows the character to dish out more damage per hit, which can be very helpful when in a heated battle.
As with the Taunts, performing a Neijin takes time, and if performed next to an opponent, be prepared for a nice ass kicking.

It's this "open and close" dependence with the dantien and neijin (which unavoidably implies 6 harmony movement) that seems to tie Taiji to any valid forbears.

He calls it “a kind of description of taijiquan’s neijin.” He mentions the phrase “yun jin ru chousi” (move jin as though drawing silk) in his answer.
Because the movements of Yang style taijiquan are slow and gentle (huanman rouhe), they resemble the emiting of silk from a silkworm—slowly and gently coming forth, the jin/li is continuous and unbroken, the speed is even (junyun), without any phenomenon of suddenly going more quickly or more slowly.
When the neijin comes out evenly and gently (junyun xuxu er chu), not hurried or slow, it then produces the result of “moving jin as though drawing silk” (yun jin ru chousi).

Mechanically, the common Bagua practice of "walking the circle" while holding various static arm postures helps to develop the ability to maintain internal strength attributes (neijin) while stepping.
Later, one trains more dynamic martial articulations commonly referred to as palm changes which promote development of whole-body integrated movement and suppleness of the spine, in addition to fighting applications.

It's also why some MA can never be internal because the shapes/structure do not propagate neijin well -- which is not to say they do not propagate power or are effective, just that they support neijin well.
